I'm April Miller.

Hi! I'M April Miller.

I’m a Functional Nutritional Therapy Practitioner, wife and mom to 3 amazing kids! I know how challenging it can be to balance work and family demands with healthy living. But we women deserve to take care of ourselves – our bodies demand it! Auto-immune triggers, adrenal fatigue, hormone issues and cancer are the result of not listening and properly caring for ourselves. But it’s not too late – get started now!

My Story

I am a miracle baby. My mom was an epileptic that took an enormous amount of anti-seizure medication while she was pregnant with me. She had no choice – her life depended on it – and I don’t fault her for this decision. Luckily, I came out with all 10 fingers and toes and everyone said I looked perfect! Back then, we weren’t too familiar with the importance of the gut microbiome. Unfortunately, mine was wrecked and the result was severe digestive issues, (b)acne, anxiety and depression that plagued me from a very young age.

I had never struggled with weight until after I had my 3 kids. It was then that I decided that it was time to get healthy and fit! While it was exciting to see my body change for the better, my digestion and depression stayed the same.

I was introduced to a probiotic to help improve my digestion (this was years ago when probiotics were just becoming popular and no one was really familiar with their benefits). After a few months on this supplement, my potty issues disappeared but I also noticed my depression had vanished! This began my education into gut health.

I became a voracious student of gut health and studied all the time, offering my friends and family all the information I was learning. I eventually enrolled in The Institute for Integrative Nutrition and became a certified Holistic Health Coach in 2016, furthering my education with the Primal Health Coach Institute. I was blessed to have clients immediately upon completing my studies and count it a privilege to have been a part of hundreds of people’s health journeys through private coaching and online group weight loss challenges (anyone remember Drop 10 or the ELR Challenge?!).

In spite of the success of my clients, I was bothered by the clients that had deeper issues that we couldn’t seem to improve.

In spite of the success of my clients, I was bothered by the clients that had deeper issues that we couldn’t seem to improve.

I knew it was time to continue my education to better serve them. It was also around this time that my mom was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer. My dad had passed the previous year and I’m an only child, so I became my mom’s primary caregiver. She lost her battle with cancer a short four months later. Through genetic testing, I discovered that I also have a significant risk for breast cancer, but worse yet, so does my daughter. After the dust settled, I enrolled in the Nutritional Therapy Association to deepen my understanding of anatomy and physiology, hormones, vitamins and minerals, cardiovascular health and cancer prevention. I graduated in 2020 with a burning passion to help women who struggle with auto-immune conditions, adrenal fatigue, unbalanced hormones or who – like my daughter and I – have a high risk for certain cancers. I firmly believe in getting to the root of the problem, not simply managing symptoms. The body is an incredible machine that wants to heal, if we will let it!

Italian Stuffed Peppers

Italian Stuffed Peppers

Years ago, there was a local restaurant named The Villa. They were known for their meat and mushroom sauce - a hearty spaghetti sauce that didn't even need a pasta, it was so good! The Villa also priced it so well, it was more convenient for us to purchase it in quart...

Hot Honey Wings!

Football season is kind of a big deal around here. My husband literally works his schedule around Thursday, Saturday and Sunday afternoon games! I generally feel like a "football widow" in the Fall, because I hear the phrase all too often, "sorry honey, there's a game...

Swedish Meatballs

I just love great food! Don't get me wrong, I prefer it be healthy, probably low sugar and grain free and nutrient dense. But why do these have to be mutually exclusive? Why - even after YEARS of cooking healthy and teaching others to do the same - do I even struggle...
